 The public can submit a tip through our secure web page found in the navigation bar at the top of the page, they can also call over to 1 800 222 TIPS (8477). 

Do I have to give personal information?

Crime Stoppers operates on  a anonymous tip basis and does not require the individual to identify themselves. A secure code is given to the individual for identification purposes.

Is crime stoppers a branch of the local police departments?

Crime stoppers is a independent organization that is partially funded by the local police department. When tips are submitted to Crime Stoppers, after review they will be forwarded to local authorities for on going police investigations. The directors involved with Crime Stoppers volunteer their time to assist with the operations, organization of events, and the community involvement.

Does Crime Stoppers have the authority to lay information or formally charge an individual?

Crime Stoppers directors and volunteers are not considered peace officers under the Criminal Code of Canada. They have no authority to formally charge an individual. They will simply pass the information off to a peace officer for investigation purposes.


What types of tips are supplied to Crime Stoppers?

Crime Stoppers will accept tips about crimes that currently being committed, have been committed in the past, or if there is a suspicion of criminal behaviour taking place in the future. They will also accept information regarding wanted fugitives, stolen property, drug related offences, crimes against elderly, and many more.

How do I collect a reward?

If the tip you provided has been approved for a reward, you will use the code that you are given to collect your reward at a participating financial institution. This bank will not ask for any identifying information other than the code to verify the amount of your eligible reward.
