CRIME STOPPERS

and the Kawartha Lakes OPP are asking the public's
help in solving a mischief that occurred in the
village of Bobcaygeon on August 10, 2010.

1) MISCHIEF

At 11:30 a.m. on Friday the 6th of August 2010 the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP placed the Radar Speed Sign on southbound Kawartha Lakes Road 36 at Boyd Street in the village of Bobcaygeon. At 11:30 a.m. on Monday the 9th of August 2010 the sign was picked up and at that time it was found to be damaged.

The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP and the Kawartha Lakes Police Service jointly own a radar speed sign that measures the speed of a moving vehicle and displays it on a screen. This brings attention to motorists the speed that they are going in a certain area. The Speed Sign has been deployed throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes as a tool in the fight against speeders

An analysis of the data on the speed sign indicates that at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Sunday the 8th of August 2010 the machine was damaged. The investigation reveals that unknown suspect(s) got on top of the machine and kicked in the display screen. Photographs were taken of the footwear impressions that were left by the suspect(s).
